The Mary J. Drexel Home is now
The Hearth at Drexel

Welcome to The Hearth at Drexel

Philanthropist John D. Lankenau founded the Mary J. Drexel Home in 1888 in memory of his wife. The community, now The Hearth at Drexel, is built around a landmark historic mansion in Bala Cynwyd. Liberty Lutheran lovingly restored and renovated the mansion, making it the crowning jewel of our exceptional community.

The Hearth at Drexel is distinctly different type of Assisted Living and Memory Care community, defined by sophisticated luxury and highly personalized care, and designed for the most discerning individuals. We are progressive in our approach-offering three levels of assistance within a unique "household" style of living. Residents maintain their privacy and lifestyle preferences within a supportive, service-and-amenity rich community.

The Hearth at Drexel is a proud community of Liberty Lutheran, a top choice for senior living throughout Pennsylvania for more than a century.

The Hearth at Drexel is a member of the Liberty Lutheran family of services. Liberty’s faith-based, non-profit organization impacts the health and well-being of more than 10,000 senior adults through a dynamic range of health and wellness services and lifestyle options. The Liberty Lutheran family of services includes: Paul’s Run, Artman, The Village at Penn State, The Becoming Center, Liberty at Home, Liberty Hospice, LCFS' West Philadelphia Senior Community Center, and Lutheran Congregational Services.
